At Eames Psychology we principally utilise a therapy called Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT). MBT integrates psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapies with understanding of environmental factors (surrounding life events and circumstances), as well as impacts of systemic factors (past relationships, difficult experiences and events).
Therapy aims to increase a client’s awareness of the factors that influence their thoughts and emotional reactions to current situations. This enhances self-reflective awareness and the capacity to change, as well as increases their understanding of other people’s motivation, behaviour, intent and emotional reactions to them, supporting positive relationship change.
Additionally, techniques and strategies within sessions are utilised from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and Relaxation strategies, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Attachment based theory, Interpersonal Therapy, Cognitive Processing for Trauma, and Synergetic Play Therapy (for clients 12yr and under).
